Disney Cruise
For the kid in us

Disney entered the cruise world in stages:
1985–1993: Partnership Era
Disney partnered with Premier Cruise Line to offer cruises with Disney characters and vacation packages combining cruises + theme parks.
The partnership ended in 1993 when Premier switched licensing partners.
1994–1998: Creation of Disney’s Own Cruise Line
Disney decided to build its own cruise brand and announced plans in 1994.
The operating company was formally set up in 1996.
Disney ordered purpose-built ships and purchased a private island in the Bahamas (later Castaway Cay).
1998 → Present: Expansion & Global Growth
First sailings began in 1998.
The fleet has expanded with multiple ship classes and private destinations.
New ships and global deployment (Asia, Europe, etc.) continue to expand the brand through the late 2020s and beyond.
